Was in Valencia from Friday to Saturday and managed to see Team New Zealand in action race 2 & 3 - 26th of June. They didn’t win this race but it was quite strange to see them in action on the other side of the world in Spain. We watched them on the beach in Valencia quite a sight, huge amounts of boats and people watching. Few Helicopters buzzing over too.

Weather was quite hot for the 3 days I was there, reaching almost 40 degrees at times. Quite unbearable for sleeping…Beach was really busy and the water a little dirty too. Mainly due to the boats for the race stiring up the sand etc.

But I noticed the differance comparing the beach in VLC to Javea and Denia. The beach at Javea and Denia is beautiful clear water. You can clearly see fish swiming around your feet in the water. Myself and girlfriend Inma hired one of those paddle boats for a bit of fun, was cool paddling around for an hour. We even had a few large waves which made it quite fun, if a little scary. But I think it would take a wave double the size of what we had to flip the paddle boat. I wouldn’t want to try!

On my flight back I saw a bunch of NZ guys with Team NZ gear, I was thinking just fans who went for the Race. But I sat behind these guys and noticed all there gear was TNZ. And there bags were named Macfarlane, McBeth, Macasey, Henderson. Turned out to be the guys in the team. The grinders, Chris Macasey, Jono McBeth, Winston Macfarlane etc. But no Grant Dalton or Dean Barker. Pitty. I didn’t talk to them, only to say Hi. But it looks like no first class for these guys. They were on Iberia flight 4150 departing on the 29th June. So its good there taking the cheap flights. Must have been heading back to NZ I think, or London for a break.

I’ll have some photos of my trip soon on the album asap.
